The rhythms of daily life and political violence in Kashmir.

Rafiq’s whole world is upside down. Like thousands of young men, his brother Tauqir has disappeared during the military insurgency in Kashmir, leaving a wake of grief behind him. His parents struggle to come to terms with this new reality, while Rafiq refuses to accept it—after an unsuccessful border crossing into Pakistan he returns home, more aimless than ever. Until a chance discovery of his brother’s camera one day promises to reveal secrets of Tauqir's hidden life.

Suspended between a landscape of natural beauty and the melancholy existence of those forced to live in fear of political violence or its follow-on effects, Harud (Autumn) intimately captures the rhythms of daily life in Kashmir. Veteran actor Aamir Bashir’s directorial debut premiered at Rotterdam, Toronto, Göteborg, and Jeonju.
